Explore the intersection of technology and craftsmanship in this beginner-friendly woodworking course!

Join us for a comprehensive 4-day workshop designed to introduce you to the basics of woodworking and the exciting world of CNC routing. Over the course of four days, you’ll learn essential skills, from preparing your wood to using CNC software, and finally assembling and finishing your project—a beautiful hallway shelf.

Course Outline:

Day 1: Wood Preparation

  • Safety First: Essential safety tips and best practices for working with wood and CNC machines.
  • Introduction to Woodworking: Learn about different types of wood and their properties.
  • Wood Preparation: Understand the importance of preparing your wood, including measuring, cutting, and selecting the best pieces for your project.

Day 2: Design and Programming with CNC Software

  • Introduction to CNC Routing: Learn about CNC routers and their capabilities.
  • Software Basics: Get hands-on experience with VCarve Pro, learning how to design and plan your hallway shelf.
  • Programming in VCarve Pro: Learn how to create toolpaths and prepare your design for cutting using VCarve Pro.

Day 3: CNC Cutting and Preparation

  • Machine Setup: Learn how to set up the CNC router and prepare it for cutting.
  • Cutting Your Pieces: Apply your design to cut out the pieces for your hallway shelf using the CNC router.
  • Sanding and Preparation: Finish your pieces by sanding and preparing them for assembly.

Day 4: Assembly and Finishing

  • Shelf Assembly: Put your cut pieces together, assembling your hallway shelf step-by-step.
  • Finishing Touches: Learn about different finishing techniques.
  • Final Review: Review your completed project and discuss any final adjustments or enhancements.

  • Duration: 4 days (3 hours per day)
  • Materials Provided: All wood, tools, and software access included
  • What to Bring: Just your enthusiasm and creativity! Wear comfortable clothes suitable for a workshop environment.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid foundation in both traditional woodworking and modern CNC technology. You’ll leave with a beautifully crafted hallway shelf that you built yourself, along with the skills and confidence to continue your woodworking journey.
